Ma-E takes us through the origins of Skhanda Rap and I guess it’s settled now, isn’t it?
FYI “Skhanda” originally referred to a style of dance better known as pantsula. Pantsula was more than a dance style because it had a look and way of life that became synonymous with Township culture long before there was an MT or a Teargas. The point being the only person who can lay claim to Skhanda is the original pantsula. The term has just been coined in a South African Hip-hop context, thanks to KO, based on the music pantsula’s dance to and the kasi lifestyle in general. So any hard feelings in this regard are pointless and wasted breath/data: Here’s a video in which Ma-E explains the origins of Skhanda Rap watch & share this link: (Source: KWESTA)
